Ubuntu 16.04 , timeout grub non cambia dopo la modifica del file /etc/default/grub , come risolvere?

Ciao a tutti, Ho utilizzato le guide per la modifica del grub2 ,e sono riuscito a impostare facilmente il sistema predefinito modificando la variabile GRUB_DEFAULT, mentre per quanto riguarda il timeout ,che voglio impostare ad un valore compreso tra 3 e 5 secondi , nonostante abbia modificato il valore di GRUB_TIMEOUT continua a rimanere di 10 secondi ogni volta che avvio il pc. (ho ovviamente eseguito il comando sudo update-grub dopo ogni modifica al file) Questo è il contenuto del file /etc/default/grub :
